Mood: waiting for wind
29th December 2006
Windsurfing: Pevensey Bay
Wind Direction: SSW
Wind Stength: F4-6
Surf / Sea State: decent swell, logo high waves
Air Temperature: quite bearable
Sea Temperature: cooling down slowly
Weather: wet & windy
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

For me ... started badly as wind dropped as i launched, and having to avoid a fishing comp ended up ashore a long long way downwind. Luckily wind filled back in with the rain and was okay to sail back upwind and remained pretty constant from there on in.

Direction was okay, giving cross-on wind and logo high swell / waves with some randomly breaking further out. Out the back the waves were pretty big, but more swell than waves if honest. Some nice ramps for big air, and some nice shaped waves coming back in for backside riding, if you picked the right ones.

Nice to use my new 5.6m Remedy on the 3S97, especially nice to note that my favourite 2006 combo works just as well in it's 2007 guise.

Good to see so many out too, for a december weekday, with at least 10 windsurfers (incl Big Al, Mark, Guy, Paul and loads more) and a couple of kiters on the water. Also nice to hear one kiter tell his mates he was pole surfing today, couldn't be bothered with the kite, and wants to get back into his windsurfing more ... buying a new board to give him a wider window of opportunity to windsurf.

Started session sailing underpowered and miles downwind, ended session getting spanked dropping in on a wave that I should perhaps have 'opted out' and getting rolled in the surf. Was pretty well punished by feel of my aching body parts now! Still a couple of fishermen about, so by time got back on my kit, wind typically dropped a touch and sailed in downwind of the fishermen, though fortunately just couple beaches down from launch point so not too far to walk.

More please .... tomorrow then !
